axe. 2.5 lbs Hand forged axe with hammer poll on the back. A light fast camp axe good for splitting and chopping as well as driving in tent pegs and general hammering jobs. Hung on a graceful hand carved hickory handle. 
Although axes are commonly used to hammer: This one is designed and hardened and tempered for that job as well as cutting wood. 
Forged from 4140 alloy steel.
4140 chromium molybdenum steel is a medium carbon steel that offers a great toughness and hardness combination. Depending on the exact composition of the bar it is capable of 54-59 HRC.
The golden color on the polished steel is the final temper colour.
They are mounted on hand carved hickory handles that have been given multiple coats of tung oil to protect and add resilience.
