Blacksmiths hot cut tool made of H-13 on a mild steel handle. H-13 is a hot working steel designed to be used hot and keep its cutting edge. Made to be struck with your hand hammer to cut hot steel. Though small in size it's capable of big work. I even use these under my 112lbs air hammer. The edge profile is called a walking chisel. This allows for gracefully stopping and starting lines. An essential tool for every smith.

AISI H-13 Tool Steel - a 5% chromium hot work tool steel designed for applications that require extreme toughness combined with good red-hardness. H13 will allow an extra margin of safety in tools subject to heavy hammer blows, and those containing deep recesses or sharp corners. Although H13 was designed as a hot work steel, it has solved many cold work applications where extra toughness could be gained with some sacrifice of wear resistance.
Properties
H-13 is typically bought to meet chemistry requirements rather than physical requirements. For that reason, physical properties are generally not provided unless requested prior to production. Any material can be sent to a third party after production to be tested for physical properties.
