I’ve experimented with all the popular ceramics for abrasion and flux resistance this by far is my go to for the floors and sides of my forges. 
pack this into / onto the surface you wish to protect from abrasion and fire up to cure. Wear disposable gloves to handle and fire up outside or in extremely well ventilated area the first time . After it’s cured use anywhere.
